We are introducing our first virtual recipe swap, submit your favorite holiday recipe to our email address: http://www.themahjongtournament.com and in the subject line write “recipe”. We will take all the recipes and make you a virtual holiday recipe book from all your co-mah jonggers. The book will be online after the tournament, just in time to enjoy for your Hanukkah and Christmas celebrations.

Barbara’s favorite holiday drink

 Sufganiyot Cocktail

My choice of drinking a Jelly doughnut

oz. vanilla-flavored vodka

1 oz. citron or citrus-flavored vodka

2 oz. Manischewitz sweetened blackberry wine

Lemon wedge

Powdered sugar

Rub the lemon wedge around the edge of a martini or cocktail glass then dip the rim into powdered sugar. Add ice, vanilla vodka, citron vodka and blackberry wine to a cocktail shaker, mix it all up then strain into your prepared glass.  

                           

Cheryl’s favorite cookies

Holiday Cut-out Cookies -  

 1 ½ c all-purpose flour

 ½ tsp baking powder

 ¼ tsp salt

 ½ c butter (softened)

 ½ c white sugar

 2 egg yolks

 1 tsp orange juice

 1 tsp vanilla extract

 Step 1

 Preheat oven to 250 degrees. Lightly grease a baking sheet. Whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt.

 Step 2

 Beat the butter and sugar with an electric mixer in a large bowl until smooth. Beat in one egg yolk until completely incorporated.

 Beat In the other egg yolk along with the orange juice and vanilla. Mix in the flour until just incorporated.

 Step 3

 On a lightly floured surface, roll the dough out to ¼ inch thickness. Cut into desired holiday shapes with cookie cutters. Place  cookies on prepared baking sheet.

 Step 4

 Bake in the pre-heated oven until the edges are golden, 10-12 minutes. Allow the cookies to cool on the baking sheet for 1 minute  before removing to a wire rack to cool completely. Decorate as desired for the holiday.

 Approximately 2 dozen cookies depending on the size of the cutter






For the Tournament, we encourage you to wear your favorite holiday attire; show off your festive shirts, sweaters, jewelry, or even your holiday PJ’s. You will have the opportunity to see and be seen on ZOOM!!!!!
